Tanzania offers a wide variety of game to hunt, including both plains game and dangerous game. Some of the species you may hunt include:
- Plains Game: Impala, zebra, hartebeest, Livingstone’s and Pattersons eland, Greater and Lesser kudu, Grants gazelle, and Roan and Sable.
- Dangerous Game: Lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo.

Our area that borders the Ruaha National Park called Lunda Mkwambi (G.C.A) is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna including both Eastern and Southern African species.Our areas landscape features open grasslands, miombo woodland, scattered baobab trees, and riverbeds, intersected with rocky outcrops (kopje’s) and hills (gomo’s). Our area is renowned for its large populations of elephants, buffalo, and various antelope species, as well as its abundance of birdlife.
LUNDA MKWAMBI (G.C.A)
The Ruaha Valley in Southern Tanzania is one of the most important elephant habitats in Eastern Africa and forms part of a 20,226 km² protected area, the largest of its kind in Tanzania and in East Africa. Tanzania is home to the second largest elephant population in Africa after Botswana and big numbers of these elephant are based in and around the Ruaha Valley.
Our hunting block “Lunda Mkwambi” spans an impressive total area size of 1046km² and is situated on the Eastern boundary of Ruaha National Park. we are lucky to have two major rivers bordering our area which gives us a year round water supply and an large influx of game animals unsurpassed to other areas surrounding the park. to the northern boundary of our are is the Kizigo river and the Southern Boundary is the Great Ruaha river, both lead into the Mtera Reservoir.
Lunda Mkwambi is one of the premium elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo hunting areas in Tanzania, boasting some of the largest tusked elephant of the total area and some superb genetics in our buffalo population. We are very selective about the best time of the season for hunting specific species any discerning hunter is wishing to hunt to ensure a high success rate during your hunt in the Ruaha Valley.

GETTING TO Lunda Mkwambi
Port of Entry
The most convenient ports of entry to our hunting concession in Tanzania are Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) and Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). From either airport you can catch an internal domestic flight to Dodoma Airport (DOD). Airlines that service this airport are Air Tanzania and Precision Air.
We also make use of private airstrips near our concessions and private charter flights can be booked from Arusha and Dar Es Salaam.
Transit times:
- Dar to Dodoma (Domestic flight) – 1 hour 20 minutes
- Arusha to Dodoma (Charter only) – 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours
- Arusha to Camp airstrip (Charter only) – 1 hour 30 minutes
- Dodoma to Camp 1 (Road Transfer) – 4 hours approx.
- Camp airstrip to Camp 1 (Road Transfer) – 30 minutes
Entry and Visa Requirements
Every visitor to Tanzania must be in possession of a passport that is valid until six months after the initial date of travel as well as a round-trip airline ticket or other proof of exit out of the country. Temporary entry visas for Tanzania are required by visitors from almost all countries, these can be obtained either online via Tanzania Immigration website or upon arrival at the visa desk. Regulations change constantly and we advise all visitors to please check with their nearest Tanzanian Consulate about entry regulations and obtaining a visa. A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is needed for travellers coming from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission.
Health and Travel Insurance
It is important to note that all hunting safaris are potentially dangerous and it is each client’s own responsibility to arrange his/her medical, evacuation or personal insurance. We recommend Ripcord Comprehensive Travel Protection (www.ripcordtravelprotection.com) as a preferred travel insurer.
Travelling with Firearms
It is advisable to take out full insurance for all firearms before travelling anywhere in Africa. Ensure that your ammunition is in a separate lockable container from your rifle. Bows can be imported with a special hunting permit at an additional cost. Hunters entering Tanzania with firearms and ammunition must have a copy of a valid Firearms Import Permit issued by the Commander of Police (Dar Es Salaam) for all firearms and/or ammunition in their possession. Upon arrival in Tanzania, present the copy of the import licence together with a copy of the Letter of Invitation which we will be sent to each client before travelling. The temporary import/export permit will be issued at customs at the airport.
